Electrostatic Air Purifiers

Many people know about electrostatic air purifiers but not everyone is aware of what exactly this type of air cleaner is. In fact, there are many different types of air purifiers on the market and some have completely replaced other types of air cleaners. There are many benefits to using an air purifier and there are also a few disadvantages. The two types of air purifiers have quite a few similarities, but they also have some important differences. Before deciding which type is right for your needs, you should learn more about each type of purifier and decide which is best for your needs.

electrostatic air purifiers

Electrostatic air purifiers work by capturing positive charge from airborne particles such as dust, mold spores, pollen and bacteria. This positive charge binds with the positively charged particles in the air and releases negative ions into the air. Basically, an air purifier is using negative ions to remove the pollutants that cause the problems in your home. In short, both ionic and electrostatic air purifiers employ similar technology to lower indoor air pollution.

Both ionizing and electrostatic air purifiers work by using a process called ionization to produce ozone gas. Ozone gas is a highly reactive gas that reacts with free radicals in the air and destroys them. This method of eliminating ozone is very effective at removing harmful gases from the air and thus protecting your lungs from potential lung irritants. However, ozone is a dangerous chemical that can also be damaging to your eyes, skin and even your teeth if it is inhaled in large quantities.

Ionizing air purification systems are often installed inside factories where air purifying systems are also installed. The machines in a factory function in the same way that ionizing machines do inside of a home. The difference between the two is that an electrostatic filter does not release ozone gas while a conventional filter does.

A typical air purifier machine consists of an activated carbon filter and a maximum electrostatic charge filter. The activated carbon filters work to catch chemicals in the air such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs) as well as dust and pollen. They also lower the air pressure in your home to the point that it is more difficult for airborne pollutants to pass through. A combination of both the maximum electrostatic charge filter and the activated carbon filter will produce the best results.

Maxum electrostatic filters have two layers – the pre-filter and the post-filter. The pre-filter is located inside the machine while the post-filter is placed outside of the machine. This dual filtering system works to trap both floating particles and airborne pollutants before they reach the activated carbon filter. The pre-filter traps many particles but the post-filter is designed to remove larger particles so you can be sure to receive the highest quality air in your home.
