Dehumidifier does a partial job when it comes to indoor air quality
Nov 13, 2009
Investing in a dehumidifier is a good way to prevent mold, which can result in more serious cases of asthma and other respiratory ailments.
However, people who smoke or live in a home with other smokers may require more in the way of air purification options. This is especially true in light of recent findings by the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.
The healthcare organization noted that tobacco has long been associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which is the nation's fourth leading cause of death.
However, newer research finds that smoking can also exacerbate asthma conditions while also contributing to nasal obstruction and undermining the immune system as well as the body's response to anti-asthma drugs.
A dehumidifier can help with some indoor air functions such as keeping mold at bay, but when it comes to investing in the right air purifying unit, more may be needed.
